Arleigh (Mike) Richardson
Arleigh (Mike) Richardson Jr., age 87, of North Mankato, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato, Minnesota. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Private burial at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hanska, Minnesota.
Mike was born May 1, 1935, in Mankato to Arleigh and Irma (Richardson) Richardson and spent most of his youth in Judson, Minnesota. Mike proudly served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. He married Sharon Haugen of Hanska on July 5, 1957, and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Mike worked as an over-the-road truck driver and construction supervisor. He had a work ethic beyond compare and was a very generous and compassionate man. He took great pride in his four daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Vaughn (Al) Engelby of North Mankato, Carla (Jim) Gitter of New Ulm, Tania (Doug) Miller of St. Clair and Shelley Chappell of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Engelby, Jenny (Scott) Bloomquist, Sarah (Jake) Tolzmann, Travis Gitter (special friend Alyssa), Jared Gitter (special friend Mandy); eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Valene (Jim) Sellner; brother-in-law, Cameron Haugen; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Harriet Haugen; brother, Roger Richardson; sister, Urella Peyton; sister, Sue Peyton; brother-in-law, Robert Peyton; brother-in-law, Harmon Haugen; and sister-in-law, Charlene (Mike) Ogle.
Sharon and the family would like to especially thank the caring staff at Oak Terrace and Mayo Hospice West.
