He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Rita Lunz.
Rodney Lee Lunz was born March 23, 1943, to Leland and Rita (Goos) Lunz in New Ulm. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm and enlisted in the United States Army. After serving his country, Rodney began working as a baker at Red Owl Bakery in Hopkins. During that time, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Knisley, on Aug. 30, 1969, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Rodney provided for his family as a baker for 23 years, then worked in the warehouse when Red Owl Bakery became SuperValue. After 14 years at SuperValue, Rodney officially retired and began his retirement job at Wolf Motor Company for 10 more years. In his free time, Rodney enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to Canterbury Park to watch the horse races, watching football games, gardening and just being outside in general. He especially loved driving and maintaining his Corvette, Sharon’s cooking, and spending time with all of his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Teddy.
Rodney will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
