Lyle Royer

Lyle Royer, 85, of New Ulm, died Friday, June 17, 2022, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-NORTH Chapel in New Ulm and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Marla Royer of New Ulm; daughters, Roxy (Mitch) Iverson and Eileen Clapp, all of Spearfish, South Dakota; sons, Lance Royer of New Ulm and Ryan Royer of St. Peter; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elaine Barnes, Genevieve Gluth and Doris Barker; and by his brother, Orville Royer.

Lyle Marvin Royer was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Tracy to Millard and Lena (McGuire) Royer. Lyle was employed at various coal and mineral mines in Idaho, South Dakota, and Nevada. He united in marriage to Marla Olson on July 7, 1973, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Lyle was then employed at AMPI in New Ulm for 21 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, playing cards and collecting Twins memorabilia.
