Keith Sweere

Keith Sweere, age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at his home in New Ulm, with his family by his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-NORTH chapel in New Ulm and will continue on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Keith leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Julie Sweere of New Ulm; children, Missy (Jon) Bassett of New Ulm, Jenny (Andy) Griebel of New Ulm, Matt (April) Sweere of Gibbon; six grandchildren, Trenton Sweere, Trevor Bassett, Evelyn and Cayne Griebel, Lorelai and Spencer Sweere; mothers, Betty Meadows and Debbie (Richard) Sweere-Johnson; siblings, Brenda (Mark) Wiger, Jeremy (Amy) Sweere, Luke (Tammy) Sweere, Andrew Bellcourt, KC Shaw, Ronnie Potter, Connie Clark, Ray Potter, Edith Norris, Kay Norris, Nicole Koenig, Keenan Sayers, Tyrone Norris, Vanessa Norris; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Gerald Sweere; birth parents, Wilbur Norris and Margaret Beaulieu; siblings, Beth Sweere, Kevin Sweere, Debbie Rodriguez, Geri Royal, Frank Norris; nephew, Derek Sweere; mother-in-law, Doris Kuehn.

Keith Thomas Sweere was born May 28, 1955, in St. Cloud. He was adopted, raised and loved by Gerald Sweere and Betty (Johnson) Meadows. He grew up in Wadena and graduated from Wadena High School. Keith joined the Army and served from 1973-76, then served in the Marine Corps and National Guard. Keith met Julie Kuehn, and they were united in marriage on Nov. 29, 1980, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. This union blessed the couple with three children. They raised their children and spent their married life in New Ulm, where they were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Keith was employed at Kraft for 30 years until his retirement. Keith had a love for hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake home. His family and grandchildren were everything to him. Later in life, Keith was connected with his birth family and learned about his heritage, becoming a member of White Earth Chippewa Tribe in Northern Minnesota. Keith was a fun-loving, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
