Jeffrey Paul Halverson
Jeffrey Paul Halverson, age 67, of Madelia, Minnesota, passed peacefully in the arms of his loving wife in the early-morning hours on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Madelia Health. Jeff had battled liver disease for 30 years and recently liver cancer. He was a fighter and kept a positive attitude to the very end.
Jeff was born on July 4, 1954, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Marlow and Adeline Halverson. He was a little firecracker right from the start. Jeff grew up in rural Madelia, moving to the city of Madelia during his teenage years. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Madelia High School, graduating in 1972.
He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kathyanne Snyder, on Nov. 12, 1977. They had three children, twin boys Grant and Ryan and a daughter Meghan.
Jeff was a career employee of the House of Print, where he worked for 47 years in the printing industry. He started at the age of 17 as a jogger and worked his way up, retiring as the production manager. He took immense pride in his work and was a great teacher and mentor to his employees. Jeff retired in July of 2019 and moved with his wife to Palm Bay, Florida, where he enjoyed golfing in the warm sunshine.
Jeff had many hobbies and was a gifted woodworker, creating kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture and other beautiful pieces for friends and family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending numerous seasons bowhunting for deer, fishing for walleye at Leech Lake and more recently in Chamberlain, South Dakota. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting with friends near Lake Shetek in recent years. Jeff loved the game of golf and spent Sunday mornings playing with friends for quarters and participated in various leagues in Madelia and Florida.
Jeff was a social butterfly and had the gift of gab with his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Sunday afternoons were usually spent watching Minnesota Twins baseball, golf on television or napping with a beagle on his lap.
Above all else, his favorite thing was spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Kathyanne of Madelia; his son, Grant (Allison) and their children, Noah and Alexander Halverson of Madelia; son, Ryan (Charleen) and their children, Talan, Olivia, Wes, and Calvin Halverson of Mazomanie, Wisconsin; and daughter, Meghan (Adam) and their daughter, Lucy Ward of Vernon Center, Minnesota. Survivors also include three brothers, Ron, Lee and Eric Halverson, extended family and many friends. Jeff firmly believed he would be reunited with his parents, sister and friends in heaven.
A private celebration of life is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Watonwan County Pheasants Forever, the Lake Crystal Ducks Unlimited or your local sportsman’s club in Jeff’s memory.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home-Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia, Minnesota (www.sturmfh.com).
