New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 3rd Street South and Valley Street at 8:16 am. Monday. A 2006 car driven by Dewayne Mack, 73, New Ulm, was southbound on Valley Street when it collided with a 2016 truck driven by George Brown, 75, Gibbon, who attempted to cross Valley Street from 3rd South. Damage was moderate to the front driver side fender/bumper of the car and moderate to the front bumper/fender on the truck.
• Received a theft report at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday from an 87-year-old New Ulm woman who said she scammed out of $85,000 through an online investment account. The woman said she was told to pay $85,000 in gold. She met a grey Ford Edge in the Walmart parking lot and turned over the gold to a man. Police are working with the FBI on locating the suspect, a 30-year-old Aurora, Il man, reported in the New Ulm area several days earlier that was stopped by police. A report went to a police investigator.
• Received a theft report of two chrome headlights valued at $370 from the 400 block of Minnesota St. North at 4:57 p.m. Monday. Police have no suspects. A report was done for documentation.
• Received a dogfight report at 6:48 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of German St. South. Two pit bull dogs were injured but not taken to veterinarians. No humans were reported hurt. A report went to police animal control.
• Received a theft report at Walmart at 1:28 p.m. Friday involving a 72-year-old New Ulm woman stealing items valued at $688.77 since April 23. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Received a theft report at Walmart at 1:29 p.m. Friday involving a 36-year-old Sleepy Eye woman stealing items valued at $736.18 since April 29 in a self-checkout lane. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
