New Ulm Police

• Received a theft report at 415 West St at 11:24 a.m. Friday. Netting and support poles taken were valued at $250. A report was done for documentation.

• Stopped a vehicle for speeding at Broadway and 11th Street South at 10 p.m. Friday. The driver, a 45-year-old New Ulm man, had impairment clues. A breath sample was obtained, resulting in the man’s arrest for DWI. He was transported to the Brown County Jail. A citation charged him with DWI, speeding and driving without a valid driver’s license.

• Responded to a theft report at Walmart Super Center at 1103 p.m. Friday. A 47-year-old Fairfax woman was reported to be skip scanning and miss scanning items in the self-checkout lane, scanning clearance items multiple times instead of scanning them separately. The theft reported to total $511.95 included 39 items not scanned or improperly scanned. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for theft charge consideration.

• A 34-year-old New Ulm woman told police at 10:42 a.m. Saturday that she lost her debit card and learned it was used to buy $14 worth of lottery tickets at Kwik Trip, New Ulm. While waiting for video surveillance from Kwik Trip, the woman said she no longer wanted the case investigated. A report was done for documentation.

• Received a request from the Mankato Department of Public Safety at 12:57 a.m. Sunday to be on the lookout for a 43-year-old New Ulm man said to be involved in a Blue Earth County pursuit earlier in the evening. Officers found the man near his residence, near Summit Ave. and Circuit Drive and tried to apprehend him. The man fled on foot and was not located. A report for fleeing law enforcement on foot was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office. Police continue to search for the suspect.

• Stopped a vehicle for speeding at Center and Garden Street at 11:51 a.m. Monday. An officer noticed an open beer can in the vehicle and cited the driver, a 47-year-old New Ulm woman, for open bottle. A report was done for documentation.

• Arrested a 46-year-old New Ulm woman on a Lyon County felony theft by swindle warrant at 12:11 p.m. Monday on the 1300 block of Payne Street South. The woman was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was sent to the Marshall District, Minnesota Department of Corrections Probation.

• Talked to a 58-year-old New Ulm woman and her husband, a 71-year-old New Ulm man at 12:49 p.m. Monday. The couple provided police a trespass letter against a 68-year-old Sleepy Eye man from coming to their residence. The letter will be mailed by certified mail to the Sleepy Eye man. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a burglary report at 3:04 p.m. Monday from a 61-year-old New Ulm man on Valley Street South who said two chainsaws valued at $1,900 were stolen and two garage panels valued at $1,269 were damaged. The man said he had an idea who was responsible for the burglary but did not want to pursue the matter.

• Attempted to pull over a vehicle at the Kwik Trip parking lot on South Broadway at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle fled and pursuit followed. Police lost the vehicle near 472nd Avenue in Blue Earth County. A short time later, the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Dept. found the vehicle, began pursuit and ended it with stop sticks. The driver fled on foot and was not located. A passenger, a 42-year-old Morton woman stayed with the vehicle and told Blue Earth County authorities the driver was a 25-year-old Garvin man. The woman said the man had arrest warrants. An attempt to locate was issued on the Garvin male suspect.
