New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash with possible minor injury at Jacobs Street and Westridge Road at 9:57 a.m. Aug. 16. Barbara M. Hennig, 82, New Ulm, was driving a 2017 Ford Escape in the left turn lane facing south at the intersection of Jacobs/Westridge Road. She tried to turn east onto Westridge Road and struck a 2018 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Gary J. Mathiowetz, 54, New Ulm, who was northbound on Jacobs Street, heading towards Walmart. Mathiowetz had an apparent minor injury. Both drivers wore seat belts. Both vehicles had severe damage.
• A 38-year-old New Ulm man came to the law enforcement center at 9:49 p.m. Aug. 15 complaining of many issues. He appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis but refused medical assistance. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.
• Stopped a 59-year-old New Ulm man for an equipment violation at 20th Street South and Front Street at 10:31 pm. Aug. 15. Police said the man had the wrong license tabs on his vehicle. A report for tax evasion charges was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
