Brown County Sheriff’s Office

• Reported an SUV-deer crash without personal injuries at 1:34 a.m. Nov. 28 at TH 4 and CR 24, Stark Township. Brown County Deputy Eric Schwarzrock was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe that collided with a deer. There was rear quarterpanel damage to the SUV but it was drivable. The deer ran off. A report was done for documentation.

• Responded to a verbal domestic at 546 Park Ave., Evan at 10:41 a.m. and 2:49 p.m. Nov. 26. A man was separated from a woman to prevent further altercation.

New Ulm Police

• Received a one-vehicle crash report without injuries at 117 N. Minnesota St. at 4:32 p.m. Nov. 25, 2022. Duane Brinkman, 84, Hutchinson, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox south on Minnesota St. when he pressed the accelerator and crashed into Patterson’s Jewelry Store, 117 N. Minnesota St. The vehicle had disabling damage. The building was also damaged. Brinkman wore a seat belt.

• Responded to a criminal damage to property call at the Brown County Detox Center, 510 Front St. N. at 2:22 a.m. Nov. 26. A 61-year-old Nisswa man, earlier arrested for DWI, damaged an isolation unit. A report was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Responded to a theft report at 1826 N. Broadway at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 27. Two male suspects, from Sleepy Eye and New Ulm, each said the other man stole items valued at $1,095. A report was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

Sleepy Eye Police

• Responded to an assault report at Sunrise Manor, 400 Remmele St. S.W. at 11:18 p.m. Nov. 27. A man and woman were separated. No damage was reported. A report was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for review.

Sibley County

Sheriff’s Office

• Received a burglary report at 9:15 a.m. Nov. 24 at a residence in Faxon Township, about four miles west of Belle Plaine. According to a news release, four people, two with handguns, arrived at the property in a black SUV, entered the residence and stole about a dozen guns, ammunition, a crossbow, compound bow, tools and other personal items.

Three vehicles were stolen — a 2019 Dodge Ram, 2008 Chrysler 300C and 2009 Nissan Altima. All three vehicles have since been recovered in Minneapolis.

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office does not believe it was a random incident and the general public is not in danger. The Minnesota State Patrol, DNR, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Belle Plaine Police assisted.

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident with agencies. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 1-888-880-4567. Callers may remain anonymous.
