New Ulm Police

• Investigated a report of a woman fraudulently receiving unemployment benefits for a jail inmate through the mail. A woman admitted to receiving the payments and claimed to be the inmate’s power of attorney. A report was sent to the state unemployment office and Brown County Human Services.

• Attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a 22-year-old New Ulm man at New Ulm Mobile Village, 2526 Bridge St. S at 8:17 a.m. Monday. Police found the man hiding in a closet. He fled, was tased and arrested. With multiple arrest warrants, he also now faces charges of obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and fleeing police on foot. A 22-year-old Sleepy Eye woman was arrested on a warrant. Reports were sent to the New Ulm City Attorney and Brown County Probation offices.

• Received a suspicious activity report at 1400 Valley St. S. at 1 a.m. Monday. A caller said a man pulled up in a vehicle while they were fishing on the Minnesota River. A man drove the vehicle away and was later stopped in the Thrivent parking lot. The vehicle was searched and burglary tools were found. A report including fleeing police in a motor vehicle against the 36-year-old New Ulm man was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Took a report at 10:04 p.m. Aug. 27 of a multiple-speed bicycle stolen from a residence at 600 German St. S. The bicycle was described as purple and gray with a large seat and tires and valued at $150. The caller said a bike was left where the stolen bike was taken from. Police located the owner of the other stolen bike.

• Responded to a report of a toddler alone near New Ulm Affordable Motel, 1427 S. Broadway, at 10:07 p.m. Aug. 27. The boy’s parent later were found. It was determined the boy exited the building through a window. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

• Arrested a 23-year-old New Ulm man on an arrest and detain order at 720 German St. N. at 9:20 p.m. Aug. 26. A report was sent to Brown County Probation.

• Took a stolen van report at 7:09 a.m. Aug. 27 from New Ulm Bus Lines, 1400 Minnesota St. S. In-vehicle cameras led to charges against a 44-year-old Shakopee man now held in the Nicollet County Jail.

• Received a parking complaint at 522 Jefferson St. N. at 11:52 a.m. Aug. 27. The vehicle in question was determined to be stolen and was towed to the police impound lot.

Sleepy Eye Police

• Took a domestic assault report at 5:51 p.m. Aug. 26 from a 19-year-old Sleepy Eye woman regarding a 20-year-old Sleepy Eye man. A report was sent to the Sleepy Eye City Attorney’s Office.

• Responded to car-pedestrian crash at 501 Burnside St. S.e. at 7:44 a.m. Monday. Jeffrey Haala, 51, Sleepy Eye was driving a car that collided with Sandra Sellner, 71, Sleepy Eye. She was transported by ambulance to Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

Sibley County Sheriff

• Responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash at 5:35 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Scenic Byway (CR 6) and 291st Avenue. Quincy Lindee, 38, Arlington, was southbound on 291st Ave. when he lost control of a 2002 Chevy Silverado, entered the ditch and rolled. He was able to free himself from the vehicle. A passing motorist called in the report to law enforcement. Lindee was transported to a Waconia hospital with minor injuries. The Belle Plaine Fire Dept. and Ridgeview Ambulance assisted.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 441st Avenue (CSAH 13) and 220th Street in Dryden/New Auburn Townships at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 26. Thomas Goethke, 16, Arlington, was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on 220th St. when he collided with Madeline Blair, 19, Sauk Rapids, who was northbound on CR 13 in a 2013 Buick Regal. blair was transported to Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center for evaluation. The crash is being investigated by the sheriff’s office. Arlington Fire and Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol and Afterburner Towing assisted.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on TH 19 and 511th Avenue, about three miles west of Gaylord at 4:57 a.m. Aug. 28. Julio Rodriguez, 45, Winthrop, was eastbound on TH 19 when he lost control of a 2006 Saturn Vue, entered the ditch, tried to drive out but got stuck in the ditch. He was not injured. Vehicle damage was moderate. Winthrop Ambulance and the Gaylord Fire Dept. assisted.
