The Willkommen Committee stopped at the Civic Center to welcome Chamber Member New Ulm Steel Hockey, along with new head coach Alex North, office and marketing manager Karen Haala and assistant coach Tommy Adams. Founded in 2011 and relocated to New Ulm in 2016, the New Ulm Steel are a Tier III ice hockey team in the West Division of the North American 3 Hockey League. North said the team has a full roster this year, and players are housed with billet families around the area. Along with their dedication to hockey, the players are encouraged to volunteer and work in the community. Their season kicks off with a Sept. 9 game against the Minnesota Loons in Breezy Point. The Steel’s first home game is Sept. 30 against the Mason City Toros.
