Seifert joins law firm Fafinski Mark & Johnson

NEW ULM — Fafinski Mark & Johnson, P.A. (FMJ) announced that attorney James Seifert (Jim) has joined the commercial law firm as a Shareholder in its General Corporate & Business and Mergers & Acquisitions practice groups. Seifert was previously Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Ecolab, Inc., General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Bemis Company, and General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at The Tennant Company.

“My decision to join FMJ was based on the firm’s service-culture, value proposition, and client-focused philosophy,” said Seifert. “I am excited by the firm’s focus on business and agribusiness in greater Minnesota.”

Seifert, a New Ulm native, is an accomplished executive with experience in domestic and cross-border transactions, sophisticated financings, intellectual property, litigation, and risk management. He has a reputation for being consistently recognized by senior management and board members as business oriented, creative, practical, and technically sound. He is also recognized nationally for innovative approaches to resolving litigation outside the traditional litigation process.

His practice at FMJ will focus on advising clients on business issues and strategy, particularly in the manufacturing industry. While Jim will office out of Eden Prairie, he will service clients in the Twin Cities and New Ulm areas.

Seifert is also a tremendous asset to the state of Minnesota. He has served on the Humphrey School of Public Affairs Advisory Board, TPT – Twin Cities PBS Board, Science Museum of Minnesota Board, and in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is currently a Board Member of Nuvera, Inc., a public telecommunications company, where he chairs the Governance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.

“We are thrilled to have Jim Seifert join the firm and be available to advise our business clients on a broad range of issues. He brings a unique skill set to solving problems, particularly for manufacturers,” said Bob Fafinski, CEO and co-founder of the firm. “His savvy judgment, sophisticated business skills, and sound leadership will benefit our clients and our firm immensely.”
