NEW ULM — The Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce recently stopped by Oakwood Church to welcome their new pastor. Pastor Jason Mehring moved to New Ulm in July with his family, which includes his wife Kiana, their 18-month twin boys, and a baby girl on the way. Mehring and his wife are both from the Rochester area, but have been living in Kentucky where he was in the seminary. Oakwood Church, previously called Oakwood United Methodist Church, recently rebranded itself and its new slogan is “Together We Are Oakwood.” Though it is still a Methodist church, Pastor Mehring says it is run more like a non-denominational church. It has been growing with younger families and will start men’s and women’s groups soon. Visit Oakwood Church at 1630 Oakwood Ave. to learn more, or to meet Pastor Mehring.
