NEW ULM -- Justin Hoffmann went 4 for 5 with three doubles and a triple as the New Ulm Brewers blanked the Sleepy Eye Indians 11-0 Sunday on Military Appreciation Day at Johnson Park in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game was stopped after 6 1/2 innings because of the 10-run lead rule.
Jace Schaefer got the pitching win for the Brewers, now 9-3 in TEL play. Schaefer allowed just two Indians hits, a double to Cody Schultz and a single to Cole Eckstein, while striking out three.
Nick Mielke took the loss for Sleepy Eye (6-5). He went five innings and was charged with all 11 runs, He fanned five.
Hoffmann's four-hit day, which also saw hom score three runs, was aided by three hits each from Ayden Jensen and Lucas Suess. Jensen and Andrew Peters each drove in three runs. Hoffmann and Suess each had two RBIs, with Cole Ranweiler adding a triple and Jensen a double.
The Brewers jumped on Mielke for four runs in the bottom of the first when Colton Schaefer singled and scored on the first of three doubles from Hoffmann. Ranweiler reached on an infield error before Hoffmann trotted home on a Jensen double.
Peters' two-run single made it 4-0.
The BrewCrew tacked on four more runs in the second.
Hoffmann doubled with one out and Ranweiler walked. Hoffmann scored on a Jensen base hit for a 5-0 lead.
A Peters single plated Ranweiler and a two run single from Suess made it an 8-0 contest.
Hoffmann's one-out triple to score Ethan Thompson, who had singled to start the fifth, ended up leading to three more runs.
