The BCHS presents She Did WHAT?!

The Brown County Historical Society invites the public to attend “She Did WHAT?!” on Thursday, March 21st at Turner Hall in New Ulm. Dinner at 6:00pm – Program at 7:00pm. Come dressed in 1890s-1930s attire and qualify for a door prize drawing.

“She Did WHAT?!” will consist of intriguing stories from some Brown County ladies. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Stories include, the 80-year-old woman who runs away with the young hired hand by train. The Moonshine Mama from Mulligan. A young woman who gets caught up with the “wrong” crowd, becomes a magi priestess and changes her name numerous times to avoid the law. That’s just a few of the stories. A master of ceremonies will be sharing some faux pas that women historically tended to make: wearing pants, no hat in church, going out unescorted, stockings with crooked seams, entering a man’s sitting room.

This program is made possible with support from the Marjorie F. Gislason speaker series sponsored by Dan and Nancy Gislason.

The event is open to the public. Tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets will not be available at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce and at the Brown County Museum until the deadline, Friday, March 15th.
