Residents urged to avoid laundering during work in their neighborhood

NEW ULM — A water main at 1st South and Minnesota Street was flushed by New Ulm’s Water Department Thursday morning.

This is the second day of water main flushing. The city began flushing the mains from 1st North to 3rd South from Broadway to Front Street on Wednesday. The flushing will occur between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Residents are advised to avoid laundering clothes when flushing occurs in their neighborhood. It is advisable to allow about an hour after daily flushing for water to clear. If discoloration in water is noticed after flushing in neighborhood, residents should run water. It should clear on its own.
