NEW ULM — Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Grand Center for Arts & Culture is undertaking major masonry and other repairs on the original structure as well as the newer addition.

On the original structure, repairs and painting are needed on the front and side masonry exterior, and there is need for some interior repairs. The rear wooden deck has deteriorated and needs replacement with composite decking.

The Grand executive director Laurel Stinson said staff became aware repairs were needed after water intrusion was noticed in the building. After some exploration, it was discovered the problem was with the water and vapor issue on the addition.

The water and vapor barrier issues requires removing and replacing the exterior brick, decks, and windows to ensure the building remains free from further damage. The total to repair and replace masonry, repair interior damage, replace decking, and repaint the building frontage will likely exceed $800,000.

The Grand will begin a campaign this spring to raise money towards these 2023 & 2024 major building repairs in an to attempt to offset some of these costs and replenish our reserves. Please contact The Grand at 507-359-9222 if you have any questions or would like to help.

Starting at $4.65/week.
