NEW ULM — The final plat for a small section of property located near the bike trail between 229 Center Street and 228 S. 1st Street was approved by the New Ulm City Council, Tuesday.

This new plat subdivides the property to create a section for the bike trail and Klassen Plumbing & Heating. The plat change is necessary to update the map following a sale of a portion of this property to Klassen Mechanical.

In July, the New Ulm Public Utilities Commission and the city agreed to sell 0.15 acres of land to Klassen, who owns the adjacent property. Klassen intents to expand its warehouse and storage space but needed the additional land.

The entire platted area is 0.49 acres. The new plat subdivides the land in a 14,375 square foot lot and a 6,970 square foot lot. The smaller lot was sold to Klassen for the expansion.

The council unanimously approved the final plat.
