GFW board considers superintendent, CFO contracts
Construction class replaces school sidewalk
GIBBON — The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) school board will consider its superintendent and chief financial officer (CFO) contracts at its meeting Nov. 21.
Under the proposed three-year contract, Supt. Dr. Jeff Horton would be paid $140,454 for the 2023-2024 contract year, $143,263 for 2024-2025 and $146,128 for 2025-2026.
The CFO contract would have no Fiscal Year 24 pay increase and a two percent Fiscal Year 2025 pay hike.
GFW Facility Manger Brian Weier reports Dave Sellner’s construction class has replaced a sidewalk section at the high school, the City of Winthrop installed two “no parking, bus loading only” signs east of the high school and new VCT (vinyl composition tile) flooring replaced asbestos tile in two school rooms. “We are working on getting our key swipe doors upgraded and adding a new one at the elementary school and two more at the high school,” Wier’s report states.
Elementary principal Jennifer Thompso’s report says staff is beginning to work on selecting a new literacy curriculum. She said holiday cantatas are set for 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4 at Peace Lutheran Church.
Middle and high school principal Brittany Galetka reports a middle and high school food drive is underway. She added that three FFA members attended the recent national FFA convention.
