Look ahead: Only local Nov. races in NU

NEW ULM — As of Monday afternoon, there are no area races for municipal and school board seats except New Ulm in the Nov. 8 general election.

The filing period for municipal and school district offices not holding primaries continues through Tuesday, Aug. 16.

In Gibbon, mayor Steve Klukas has filed for reelection Aug. 8. He has no challengers so far. Councilman Rogger Tabbert filed for reelection Aug. 2. One other City Council seat has no candidates.

Courtland City Councilors Pam Rodewald and Justin Kraus have filed for reelection.

In Lafayette, mayor Sandie Peterson filed for reelection Aug. 8 and has no challengers so far. An at-large city council seat is open. Councilor Tom Polich filed for reelection. He has no challengers yet.

Nicollet Mayor Fred Froehlich as filed for reelection. Nobody has filed for city councilor at large.

In Sanborn, Mayor Ed Cohrs and Councilors Mary Fennern and Jeremiah Frasher have filed for reelection.

Redwood Falls Mayor Tom Quackenbush and Ward 3 Councilor Larren Arentson filed for reelection. They have no challengers so far.

Nobody has filed for municipal offices yet in Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Comfrey, Winthrop, Fairfax, Franklin, Lamberton, Gaylord, Cobden and Hector.

Jeffrey Sorenson filed for Cedar Mountain School Board. Nobody has filed yet.

Nobody has filed for school board seats in Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) and Buffalo Lake Hector Stewart (BLHS).
