NEW ULM — A number of youth art exhibit participants and their families, friends and fans from the public attended a reception at The Grand Center for Arts & Culture 4 Pillars Gallery Friday.
Kelsie Havemeier, a sixth grader at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Courtland, said she enjoys painting the most, especially animals, and that she enjoys all kinds of art.
Ramsey Sellner, a Jefferson Elementary first grader, said she enjoys drawing and painting.
Another Jefferson Elementary first grader, Ryker Dustin, said he likes using markers to draw animals. His artwork on display featured a fox and Godzilla, a large, prehistoric sea monster.
Other artwork at the youth art exhibit, which will be on display through June 3, includes the work of preschoolers through sixth graders.
In addition, the exhibit included a New Ulm Human Rights Commission poster contest, featuring the artwork of Riverbend Area Learning Center students, New Ulm High School Advanced Art class students and youth poetry.
The 4 Pillars Gallery is open during exhibits from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. ArtScape, an annual juried art show for students and adults, is held each fall.
