New Ulm Police

• Received a report of garage door damage estimated at $5,668 at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday. The property owner did not want to file charges on the suspect, a 15-year-old New Ulm male. A report was done for documentation. Later at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday at the same address, a theft report of two vape cartridges was received. Theft charges are sought for the same suspect.

• Received a report of a vehicle driven away from Applebee’s parking lot at 5:24 p.m. Tuesday. Police said an 89-year-old New Ulm man got into a vehicle that did not belong to him and drove it home. Police said the vehicle was not damaged and retrieved by the rightful owner. Police requested the Minnesota Department of Public Safety do a driver evaluation on the man that drove the vehicle away, due to what was believed to be dementia.

• Responded to a one vehicle crash at 13th North and Spring Street at 12;02 p.m. Wednesday. A 2005 GMC driven by Richard Johnson, 78, New Ulm, entered an alley in the 1300 block of North Spring St. and hit the corner of a garage, causing severe front end damage to the vehicle and garage.
