NEW ULM — The New Ulm Area Foundation has donated a light table and accessories to the Preschool room at St. Anthony Elementary. The preschool program is new to St. Anthony Elementary this year, and the school did not have the budget to support the Light Table Center. Light Table has been a huge hit with the kids. Young children learn academic, social, and emotional skills through play. The Light Table is a key center in the preschool classroom to encourage the building of these skills. The Light Table is 20″ x 20″ and is at the perfect height for preschoolers to stand, sit, or kneel around and explore different manipulatives either by themselves or in collaboration with others. This type of play provides opportunities for children to explore different concepts regarding light and shadows, as well as building on color identification. The Light Table Center will foster learning in preschoolers not only this year, but in years to come. It will be a key component to providing a well-rounded education to the preschoolers. Members of the Foundation were at SAE on Friday, Sept. 17, to present a check for $2,285 to cover the cost for the table, and accessories. NUACS would like to extend its sincere thanks to the New Ulm Area Foundation for their wonderful donation.
