Man pinned under tree for 100 hours

REDWOOD FALLS — A man was freed by the Redwood Falls Fire Department Aug. 31, after being pinned under a tree for over 100 hours, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 3:56 p.m. Aug. 31, indicating that a tree had fallen on a person. At the scene, deputies found that Jonathan Ceplecha, 59, was cutting down trees when a tree fell on him pinning both legs under the tree.

The deputies learned that Ceplecha had been pinned under the tree since Thursday, Aug. 27, for over 100 hours.

After nearly two hours, the Redwood Falls Fire Department extricated Ceplecha, and he was airlifted from the scene.

Assisting the Redwood Falls Fire Department at the scene were Centra Care Ambulance, LifeLink Air Care, and the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office.
