Rabbits, chicks enthrall youth
NEW ULM – Rabbits and baby chicks drew the attention of some of the younger people Friday as the 34th Annual Farm-city Hub Club Farm Show got underway at the New Ulm Civic Center.
Kaylyn Severin of New Ulm and a 4-H member, showed some of her rabbits at the show’s 4-H booth. “I picked one up as fell in love with them as a youngster,” Severin said. “Now, I show them at the Brown County Fair and at area shows in Gibbon and Hutchinson.”
Severin said her rabbit collection includes all sizes, shapes, and breeds. “They’ve even got different attitudes,” she explained. “If you listen closely, you can hear them sniffing.”
Baby chicks in the New Ulm FFA booth got the attention of Nolan Buboltz of New Ulm. Claire Bastian of the New Ulm FFA held a chick close to him, grabbing his attention.
