Please reference
Brown County Ditch 44
in your comments.
Brown County Ditch 44
provides drainage to
portions of Sections
16, 17, 20, and 21 of
Albin Township in
Brown County. CD 44
was originally con-
structed as an all-tile
system, consisting of
28,570 feet of main
and laterals, approxi-
mately 11,595 feet of
which was main tile.
The CD 44 system
outlets into a 325-foot
private open ditch that
discharges into Lake
Hanska. The proposed
project includes im-
proving public drainage
tile and constructing an
additional 504 feet of
open ditch to be used
as an outlet for the
main tile. The pro-
posed project improves
the portion of the main
that is downstream of
the furthest south
crossing of 260th Ave-
nue. In addition, La-
terals 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9,
10, and the portion of
Lateral 5 that is west of
the 260th Avenue
crossing will also be
improved. The project
proposes to incor-
porate the existing
open ditch at the outlet,
which currently is not
part of the CD 44 sys-
tem, into the system
and extend it by 504
feet.
Additionally, the en-
gineer appointed to ex-
amine the drainage
system improvements
has determined the
portion of the drainage
system proposed to be
improved is in need of
repair. The engineer
has included in the De-
tailed Survey Report a
statement showing the
proportionate estimat-
ed cost of the pro-
posed improvement re-
quired to repair the
separable part of the
existing system and
the estimated propor-
tionate cost of the ad-
ded work required for
the improvement. At
this hearing, the
Drainage Authority will
consider the applica-
tion of separable
maintenance. The cost
of the portion of
drainage system re-
quiring maintenance
will be assessed to all
properties benefitting
from the entire CD 44
drainage system.

ties are affected by
