The New Ulm Police
Department is taking
steps to establish an
Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle(drone) pro-
gram. The uses for a
UAV would include fa-
cilitating operational
planning, search and
rescue operations,
reconstruction of crime
and/or crash scenes
and assisting other
departments within the
city.
Minnesota State Sta-
tute 626.19 requires a
law enforcement agen-
cy to accept public
comment prior to utiliz-
ing UAVs. The New
Ulm Police Department
will accept public com-
ment with submissions
to be sent via email to

or via the postal ser-
