• Hans Christian Gunderson, 53, Mankato, was charged with felony theft Friday. A Zoom court hearing was set for 8:30 a.m., July 9.

According to court documents, Sleepy Eye Police Officer Taylor Bolinger and Chief Matt Andres were driving through the Miller Sellner Implement parking lot on TH 4, just south of town at 10:23 p.m. Aug. 20 and noticed an individual’s legs behind a parked plow, then saw an individual’s head behind the plow with a hood pulled over their head.

The suspect, identified as Gunderson, ran into nearby weeds before coming out with his hands raised. Brown County dispatch told police Gunderson had multiple arrest warrants from Brown and Redwood Counties and he was arrested for them.

Police saw an unattended, side-by-side ATV nearby, ran the ATV registration that came back as a Nicollet County stolen vehicle.

Chief Andres found two zip bags in the rear of the ATV, opened one and found drug paraphernalia consistent with heroin and methamphetamine use. Another bag had two scales, a rubber tie off kit, spoon and glass cutting table, clothes and a Garmin GPS unit with security tag from a store.

Gunderson said all the property was his. DNA swabs were taken from the ATV. A Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) report concluded that the DNA profile matched Gunderson. The ATV was valued at $8,602.

• Jesse Lee Robb, 35, St. Peter, was charged with felony 3rd-degree assault-substantial bodily harm and two counts of felony 5th-degree assault-two or more previous domestic violence-related convictions or adjudications of delinquency. A Zoom court hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. July 9.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched to the Brown County Evaluation Center at 4:52 a.m. June 3 to assist with putting an individual, identified as Robb, in the isolation room.

Patrolman Greg Miller and Cpl. T. J. Ibberson assisted when it was learned that a treatment center chemical dependency technician, was assaulted by Robb and was diagnosed with a mild concussion at New Ulm Medical Center.

The dependency technician said Robb got agitated after he was asked to give up his phone and jumped on the technician, causing her to hit her head on the floor. A second evaluation center worker intervened and Robb pushed the worker into a door jam.

Robb was convicted of misdemeanor 5th-degree assault in Nicollet County Court Aug. 30, 2023, misdemeanor domestic assault Sept. 12, 2022 and gross misdemeanor violation of a domestic abuse no contact order Feb. 11, 2022.
