ARLINGTON — By the beginning of the feature events Saturday at Arlington Raceway, the track was slick in the middle but still saw wide racing throughout.

New Ulm’s Trent Loverude ended up earning his first stock car win of the year by taking the checkered flag in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature, while Nate Coopman won his 300th career feature by winning the IMCA Coors Light Sport Compact.

Joe Domeier started out the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature leading in his fast hot rod buy by the time they came across the line Ryan Bjerkeset had nosed ahead of him. Cars were four wide in Turn 2 with the 11 of Loverude pulling ahead on the high side on the back stretch. Bjerkeset runs the cushion, Dakota Robinson is on the bottom and Dan Mackenthun, Robinson battles for second but Mackenthun gets by in Turn 1. Meanwhile Loverude was putting distance on the field, weaving through lapped traffic and was successful in picking up his first win of the year. Mackenthun finished in second and Matt Looft moved up nine spots to take third just ahead of Robinson.

The first start of the IMCA Coors Light Sport Compact was pulled back for a bad start when all of them bunched together in Turn 4. Lahr was the early leader but the highlight of the race was when Nate Coopman, who moved up nine spots in the race, gained the lead driving the high side of the track and winning the race to make it his 300th feature win. Lahr took second and Dale Gatton took third.

Also on Saturday was the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature. In first lap of that race, the 420 was of Dan Scharpe was leading from his second-row start. The following lap, the 18m of Taylor Manderfield spun and collected Pat Schauer as they were entering Turn 4. On the restart, Jordan Robinson took command of the race with heavy fire from both Cory Probst and Austin Jahnz. Half way through the race Jahnz led one lap but Robinson regained it the following. With only three laps left in the race Robinson was the meat in the sandwich going down the backstretch with Probst pulling out ahead and Jahnz following Robinson. That is how they finished the race.

The Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw feature was exciting as the first lap Aric Rolf spun in Turn 1 and was sitting sideways. The next lap Craig Groebner took the lead over Jesse Anderson. There was quite a distance on Anderson but on Lap 4 Cody Flewelling spun out in Turn 4. On the restart, Groebner takes the low side of the track but Anderson was able to gain the lead a few laps later as the three cars of Groebner, Anderson and Karl Hewitt went bumper to bumper and then door to door each exchanging top spots. By Lap 10 Hewitt once again had command of the race and went on to win the race with Anderson in second and Kris Flewelling taking third.

There were three different leaders in the Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature with Beau Frauendienst the first leader until Jeff Carter took the lead on the bottom of the surface and has a steady lead until Eric Larson gets in the mix. The 29 of Matthew Luebke spun out in Turn 2 causing a yellow. Carter once again took off, but Larson and Matt Schoenke were dog hot on this trail. As the white flag came out, Larson found grip on the track and took off like a wild cat to finish ahead of Carter. Cole Hesse passed Schoenke earlier to claim third place.

Andrew Allen had a solid lead in the Rice Companies IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature and seemed to sail around the track. His dad, Brett Allen, was reeling in on him and after a yellow flag came out when Matt Johnson hit the infield tire tractor in Turn 3, Andrew Allen took over the lead again but going down the back stretch he got a little high and Brett Allen was able to get under him for the lead and take the checkered the flag ahead of Andrew Allen. Bill Johnson finished third.

JJ Reimers was the early leader in the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature until the third turn of the track on the first lap and then it was all Clint Hatlestad as he wheeled his car from start to finish to win the race. Dan Menk tried closing the gap but every time Hatlestad would pull away and then Menk had to contend with Chad Porter behind him making gains. In the end, that is how the top-three finished.

There was a little but of mayhem in the Jerry’s Hq Foods Auto Cross feature as 17 cars were vying for the lead. Cars dropped out of the race like flies but in the end, Colton Landwer won ahead of Kailynn Thul and Emily Mcconnell.
