Court Proceedings

Brown County District Court

• Two felony charges of violating a domestic abuse order for protection were filed July 16 against Raymond E. Oberley Jr., no address. According to court documents, an alleged victim called New Ulm Police July 13 and said she received two text messages at 2:03 p.m. July 13 from the Brown County Jail asking her to communicate with Raymond E. Oberley Jr. and that she has an active OFP (Order For Protection) against him. She provided law enforcement with a screen shot of the messages she received.

Police talked with a Brown County Jail Corrections Officer who confirmed Oberley was issued a text device recently and that it shows two messages sent to the alleged victim’s phone at 2:03 p.m., July 13.

Oberley pled guilty to gross misdemeanor domestic assault on July 13, 2020 in Brown County court. He was previously convicted of misdemeanor violating an OFP on June 6, 2019 in Anoka County Court. Both convictions are qualified, domestic violence-related offenses.
