Internal Medicine specialist, Aaron Adler, MD, seeing patients at NUMC

Dr. Adler’s medical career began as a combat medic in the U.S. Army.

Internal Medicine specialist Aaron Adler, MD, has a career in the military to thank for his passion for medicine. As a young man, he tried a career path into business, like many of his family members. It wasn’t the right fit. With no further plans or direction, he joined the U.S. Army.

“The Army instilled qualities that live within me to this day. It also provided me with the first look into medicine as a combat medic,” Dr. Adler said. “I thrived and earned many awards and medals in the Army to include the Expert Field Medical Badge. This is what led me to pursue medicine after I completed my military obligations.”

Dr. Adler begins seeing patients at New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) this summer. A native of Chicago, he earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center, also in Dallas.

Dr. Adler chose Internal Medicine as his specialty, he said, because of the relationships it affords him with his patients.

“Internal Medicine is a specialty that encompasses wellness and prevention while also diagnosing and treating various medical conditions,” Dr. Adler said. “As an Internal medicine physician, I’m able to build and develop relationships with my patients which I enjoy most. This allows me to know what is most important in their lives, which can help guide medical decisions going forward. Quality of life for my patients is one of my aims here in New Ulm.”

In his clinic practice, Dr. Adler likes to take a “quality over quantity” approach. He feels that longer appointments will afford his patients the time they need to feel that their every concern is being addressed.

“In my opinion patients prefer more face time with their provider and they like to know they have been heard,” Dr. Adler said. “I plan to make my visits 40 minutes to ensure quality over quantity. If this is what you are looking for in a provider then I may be your guy.”

Away from work, Dr. Adler places importance on family time and enjoys physical fitness, golf, hiking and travel.
