New Ulm Stroke Support Group

Date/Time: Second Tuesday of each month from 10 – 11 a.m.

Description: Come to support each other, learn, share what you have learned and encourage others.

Cancer Support Group

Date/Time: Second Wednesday of each month from 1 – 3 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: This group focuses on a wide variety of topics related to cancer and features guest speakers. There is no need to register for this group. For more information call 507-217-5562 and speak to our oncology patient services representative.

Location: New Ulm Medical Center, Clinic Lower Level Conference Room, 1324 5th Street N.

Pre-Natal Classes

Date/Time: Four classes, every other month. November 7, 14, 21 and December 5*; January 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2020; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 2020. Classes start at 6 p.m. Third class in the series, Breast/Bottle Feeding class can be signed up for separately.

Presenter: Nurses from our Obstetrics Unit

Description: Childbirth classes help prepare expectant mothers and their labor support person for the birth of her baby. Discussions, presentations, demonstrations and videos are incorporated to provide expectant mothers how to better care for themselves and their newborns. Expectant mothers and their labor support person should attend a class series in their sixth or seventh month of pregnancy, when possible.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Stepping On Program

Date/Time: Wednesdays, March 18-April 29, 1 – 3 p.m.; April 15-May 27, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $10

Description: Stepping On is a falls prevention program that has been researched and proven to reduce falls in older adults. The Stepping On workshop meets for two hours a week for seven weeks. This workshop is only $10, interactive and open to the public.

Diabetes Self-Management

Education Classes

Date/Time: You will need a 1:1 visit with Julie Long, NP, or Annette Hayens, NP, CDE, to set up a class schedule. Classes begin at 6 p.m. with check in starting at 5:30 p.m.

Cost: Please contact your health insurance carrier to discuss coverage and co-pay for the classes.

Description: These group classes are designed for persons with diabetes and their families to help them learn how to manage and live well with diabetes. You are encouraged to call your health insurance carrier to discuss coverage and co-pay for the classes. The classes utilize an approved American Diabetes Association curriculum and the program is a recognized ADA program. There are four classes: On the Road to Better Managing Your Diabetes, Diabetes and Healthy Eating, Monitoring Your Blood Glucose and Continuing Your Journey with Diabetes.

Location: Check in at the front desk and wait in the waiting area on the left side of the registration desk. Classes are located in the lower level conference room. Be sure to bring to class your blood glucose meter and logbook
