MANKATO – The New Ulm boy’s soccer team stayed hot with an 8-0 win against Mankato Loyola on Tuesday.

It was the second straight big offensive outburst for New Ulm, who won 7-2 on Monday against Fairmont.

Joel Koelpin scored three goals and Wyatt Huard and Nate Miller each scored twice for New Ulm. Huard and Tony Rosenhamer also scored for the Eagles. Huard had three assists with Miller Koelpin, Ben Johnson and Matt Janke all adding one assist.

New Ulm led 4-0 at halftime and it will host Waseca on Thursday.

Prep volleyball

New Ulm 3, Fairmont 1

FAIRMONT – New Ulm defeated Fairmont 26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23 in Big South Conference volleyball action on Tuesday.

Kenna Kluis had four aces and Kayla Brandes had 13 assists and 19 digs. Maddie Suess had five kills and Kenzie Depew had five kills. Dani Hogue had four kills and four blocks and Sarah Longtin had 33 digs while Emma Butte had seven set assists.

New Ulm hosts Waseca on Thursday.

Springfield 3, St. Mary’s 1

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Callie Wersal had 34 set assists with 10 digs and one block. Alyssa Streich added 10 kills and 10 digs. Vishe’ Rabb had 19 kills and four blocks.

Springfield will host Wabasso on Thursday. St. Mary’s will play at Sleepy Eye on Sept. 27.

Sibley East 3, TCU 1

MONTGOMERY – Sibley East defeated Tri-City United 25-16, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Taylor Brinkman had 25 set assists, five digs and three kills. Morgan Stearns added 24 set assists, eight kills and six digs and Taylor Perschau added 12 digs.

Sibley East (4-8, 0-1) will participate in the Sibley East Invitational Tournament on Saturday in Gaylord.
