NEW ULM — Fresh off of his second high school state golf tournament appearance this past Wednesday, 17-year-old New Ulm Eagles golfer Mason Buegler continued his strong play Saturday at the New Ulm Country Club. With a 2-over-par 73, Buegler ended his first round at the 66th annual New Ulm Invitational as the Championship Flight leader. He was one stroke ahead of eight-time Invitational winner Johnny Larson and two strokes ahead of Paul Andersen. NEW ULM — In their doubleheader Saturday against the USC Junior Legion at Mueller Park, the New Ulm VFW Silver totaled three hits in each five-inning game. One produced a close win, while the other ended in a lopsided loss. Silver pitcher Wyatt Hansen held USC to only two hits and a Hansen RBI single in the bottom of the third inning proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win.
