Two MLC athletes win POTW honors

Courtesy of Adam Hussman/MLC SID Two Martin Luther College won Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors recently, Britney Prahl in women’s tennis and Ben Pearson in men’s golf. Prahl wrapped up her collegiate career with the Knights by being awarded the UMAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week (April 20-26). Prahl went 4-0 in singles play this past week as the No. 1 player for MLC. New Ulm starts clay target season

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Clay Target team competed in its first even of the season this weekend, with several athletes doing well. Ian Lee led the team in trap shooting, hitting 47 of 50 targets. Tyson Goold and Adam Mages were 45/50, while Ethan Cunningham and Tilken Fruhwirth were both 44/50. Charlie Arndt was the top skeet shooter, going 43/50. Tate Isaacson was 42/50, Fruhwirth was 41/50, and Benjamin Furth was 37/50.

The Knights had multiple PRs and claimed first in the 3000m steeplechase, as Nicole Trapp placed first with a mark of 13:01.48. Jemimah Habben broke an MLC record in the 5K event, clocking in at 18:44.62. The previous record time was 19:19.02 by Emilee Koltz in 2014.
