Helget to be honored in Essig Monday

ESSIG — The Essig Bluejays invite the public to join them Essig Ballpark on Monday, May 25, to honor the career and accomplishments of Mandy Helget. The plaque ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m., with a Tomahawk East League game against the Stark Longhorns to follow. Helget was inducted into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame last year for his 24-year amateur baseball career with Stark and time as Essig Bluejays manager from 1988-1994.

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Eagles clay target team completed its fourth week of the season this past week, with Benjamin Furth and Charlie Arndt leading the team at Sioux Valley Gun Club. Furth shot 46 of 50 targets to lead the Eagles in trapshooting, while Kaiden Berg-Ruehling and Ian Lee each hit 45 of 50 targets.
