Post 7 takes second at Mulvihill Tournament

MANKATO — Sleepy Eye Legion came away with a second-place finish at the Milvihill Tournament at Mankato East High School this past weekend. Sleepy Eye opened the tournament with a 6-5 win over Mankato National on Friday before defeating Le Sueur-Henderson 8-3 on Saturday. Post 7 then fell to Chaska 14-1 in five innings on Sunday.

Chase Zufall earned the win on the mound in the game against Mankato National, striking out two and allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings. At the plate, Tyler Mathiowetz had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, while Adam Braulick had a hit and a run scored.

Against LSH, Kaden Klein picked up the win, striking out five and allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits and five walks in six innings. At the plate, Tyler Mathiowetz and Merrick Mathiowetz each had two hits and two RBIs, while Carson Uecker was 2 for 3. Braulick added a hit and two RBIs.

Tyler Mathiowetz took the loss for Sleepy Eye against Chaska, striking out two and allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits in four innings. At the plate, Ethan Schwartz was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Sleepy Eye (3-3) plays a doubleheader at Mankato American on Tuesday.
