ST. MICHAEL — The State Track and Field Championships began on Thursday at St. Michael-Albertville High School, with a handful of medals already being earned by some of the area’s top athletes. Sleepy Eye senior Taylor Berkner was announced the All-Tomahawk Division Softball Player of the Year on Monday. Berkner was also a unanimously selected player for the All-Tomahawk team and was selected for the third time. Berkner was joined on the team by teammate and unanimous selection Callie Evers, while teammate Jaelynn Schauman was also chosen to the team.
