MLC roundup: Golf teams host Knights Classic

MEN’S GOLF

MORTON — The MLC men’s golf squad took second in the Knights Classic on Tuesday. MLC competed against Bethany and Minnesota Morris and edged out the Cougars with 336 strokes, while Minnesota Morris finished in 337 strokes. Bethany took first with its score of 304 strokes.

Benjamin Pearson placed seventh overall with his score of 82 strokes, while John Martin finished in T-8th overall as the No. 2 golfer with a score of 83 strokes.

Aidan Berg had the next lowest total of the day for the Knights, shooting an 85 for 12th overall. Adam Loberger and Cooper Jensen each finished in 86 strokes for T-13th overall.

MLC continues its season on Friday, September 19, when it travels to Kansasville, WI, for the Midwest Classic hosted by Benedictine University. The golfers will tee off at 8 a.m. and will complete their second round at the same time on Saturday.

WOMEN’S GOLF

MORTON — The MLC women’s golf team won the Knights Classic on Tuesday at the Dacotah Golf Club. MLC took on Bethany and Minnesota Morris, and its final team score of 406 strokes was enough to top the Vikings (447) and Cougars (458) by a healthy margin.

Myah Loberger (2nd overall) and Chloe Berg (3rd overall) led the way for the Knights in the leaderboard, with Loberger shooting her 18 holes in 90 strokes, while Berg finished in 94 strokes.

Samantha Miller placed sixth overall with her score of 110, and Erin Pulice shot 112 strokes for a T-7th overall.
