Johnson Park ready host 8B amateur baseball tourney
NEW ULM — Baseball fans in New Ulm will get to see the New Ulm Brewers open their first Class B playoff format this weekend and next weekend at Johnson Park.
The District 8B, seven-team tournament starts Saturday at 11 a.m. when fourth-seeded Raymond plays fifth-seeded Luverne.
That will be followed by sixth-seeded North Mankato meeting third-seeded Fairmont at 2 p.m.
At 5 p.m. seventh-seeded Willmar plays second-seeded Bird Island.
The Brewers, seeded number one, get a first round bye,
Play continues Sunday at 11 a.m. with the loser of the North Mankato-Fairmont contest meeting the loser of the Willmar-Bird Island game.
The Brewers then begin play at 2 p.m. when they meet the winner of the Raymond-Luverne game.
Play continues Sunday with the winner of the North Mankato-Fairmont contest playing the winner of the Willmar-Bird Island game at 5 p.m.
Play then continues next weekend at Johnson Park.
Admission for the games is $10 for adults and $5 for students with kids under 12 free.
And as usual, there will be plenty of food and concessions at Johnson Park.
