TEL Wednesday roundup: Lakers overcome Longhorns

STARK — The Hanska Lakers defeated the Stark Longhorns 4-1 Wednesday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Aaron Portner got the win for Hanksa, striking out five while allowing one earned run on five hits in eight innings. At the plate, Sam Knowles was 3 for 5 with a run scored while Portner was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Dereck Wilfahrt was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Brady Mosenden and Alex Stressman each had two hits.

Jon Kopacek took the loss, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts in seven innings. At the plate, David Suprenant was 2 for 4 while Zach Haala had an RBI. Nick Labat had a hit and a run scored.

Hanska (9-5) plays at Essig on Sunday. Stark (6-7) played late Thursday at Searles. Results were not available at the time of publishing.

LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Orioles cruised by the Gibbon Reds 10-0 in eight innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

The game was called after eight innings due to the 10-run lead rule.

No statistics were reported for the game.

Leavenworth (11-2) hosted Lamberton late Thursday. Gibbon (3-11) hosts Lamberton on Sunday.
