SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye Junior Legion shut out Blue Earth/Winnebago 24-0 in five innings on Wednesday in a junior legion baseball game.

Cole Eckstein led Sleepy Eye at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and five runs scored, while Merrick Mathiowetz was 2 for 4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Landon Wendinger also was 2 for 3 with three RBIs for Sleepy Eye, while Damian Sanchez and Carson Uecker each had two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Sanchez got the win in five innings, allowing one hit in the shutout while striking out six.

Sleepy Eye next plays at Wabasso at 6 p.m. Friday.
