MVL/NUC finishes 10th at True Team state
STILLWATER — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral boys finished 10th out of 12 teams at the Class A True Team State Championships at Stillwater High School on Saturday.
St. Charles took first place with a 543.5, followed by Montevideo (509), Holdingford (504.5), Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (499), Luverne (487), Lanesboro-Fillmore Central-Mabel-Canton (482), GMLOKS (456), Osakis (410.5), Concordia Academy (406.5), MVL/NUC (390), Roseau (229) and Crosby-Ironton (203).
Ben Halvorson led the team with a second-place finish in the triple jump (41-2.25), while Will Kaesermann placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.01). Josh Bentler took sixth in the 100 (11.69) and seventh in the 200 (23.92).
The 4×100 relay team of Jaden Helget, Jared Frey, Halvorson and Bentler placed second (44.69) and the 4×200 relay team of Justin Thompson, Jared Frey, Jaden Helget and Kendrick Henry placed third (1:34.68).

New Ulm takes fifth at Mankato East meet
MANKATO — The New Ulm girls team placed fifth out of five teams at a nonconference girls golf meet on Saturday.
Austin led the pack with a 360, followed by Mankato East (386), St. Peter (410), Mankato West (429) and New Ulm (436).
Austin’s Ailani Thiravong was the medalist for the meet, scoring an 81. New Ulm’s Elyse Dreckman placed 11th with a 102, while Brooklyn Hagberg tied for 12th with a 105. Rory Gieseke placed 19th with a 113.
