MLC baseball receives 4 All-Conference selections

ST. PAUL — Four Martin Luther College baseball players earned All-UMAC recognition from the conference on Wednesday.
Mason Cox and Parker Winghart were named to the First Team, while Spencer Lilienthal and Alex Ritter were selected as Honorable Mentions.
Cox finished his season atop the UMAC in multiple categories, including batting average (.469), slugging percentage (.758), OPS (1.292), and triples (6). The senior also ranked second in Division III with his .469 batting average. Cox led MLC in all major offensive statistics such as hits (60), runs (32), home runs (5), and RBI (30).
Winghart had an impressive freshman campaign at shortstop, as he compiled 19 doubles that led the UMAC and broke the MLC single-season record. The freshman also ranked third in Division III in doubles per game (0.56).
Winghart finished second on the team in hits (51), runs (28), RBI (28), and batting average (.389).
Lilienthal earned his third Honorable Mention as a member of the Knights after being a versatile utility player on the diamond. The senior was third on the squad in hits (48), runs (26), RBI (24), and batting average (.361).
Ritter had the best season of his collegiate career as a junior, giving him his first All-Conference honor with MLC. The second baseman was fourth in hits (41), runs (24), RBI (14), and batting average (.320).
Caleb Heckendorf was the MLC recipient of the Individual Sportsmanship Award. Heckendorf completed his Knights’ career with 75 hits and 32 RBI and finished with a .934 fielding percentage primarily playing at third base.
