PREP BASEBALL

MORRISTOWN — Minnesota Valley Lutheran downed Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 9-1 in a nonconference baseball game on Friday.
Bradyn Kube pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in the win, allowing five hits. Kube also had two RBIs on offense, while Josh Carlovsky added three RBIs. Zach Riederer and Josh Vanderplas each had two hits.
MVL (7-9) hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.
GFW 7, MCW 3
WELCOME — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop took down Martin County West 7-3 in a nonconference baseball game on Friday.
Owen Swenson got the win for GFW, striking out four while allowing two earned runs on four hits in six innings pitched. At the plate, Layton Uecker-Hamre was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Dylan Bernstein was 1 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
GFW travels to play Renville County West on Monday.
Madelia 5, SJA 4
MADELIA — Madelia edged out St. James Area 5-4 Friday in a nonconference baseball game.
Tate Becker got the win in a complete game, striking out 12 while allowing one earned run on three hits. Eric Anderson led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Noel Davila was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Tony Zaleski was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Madelia hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday.

WABASSO — Tracy-Milroy-Balatan defeated Wabasso 3-1 in a nonconference baseball game on Friday.
Joe Liebl took the loss for the Rabbits, striking out eight while allowing five hits and three runs, none earned. At the plate, Noah Anderson two hits with a double, while Jaxson Wagner had a hit and a run scored.
Wabasso hosts Red Rock Central on Tuesday.

WALNUT GROVE — Sleepy Eye defeated Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 6-0 in a nonconference softball game on Friday.
Taylor Berkner got the win in the circle, striking out 15 while allowing no hits on two runs and three walks. Paige Haala led the Indians at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, while Jaelynn Schauman and Callie Evers each had a double and a run scored.
Sleepy Eye (13-6) hosts Martin County West on Tuesday.

MVL/NUC boys win
Giants Invitational
ARLINGTON — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral boys track and field team took first at the Giants Invitational on Friday with 155 points.
Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop took second (118) out of seven teams.
Sibley East won the girls side of the invite (198) out of seven teams, while GFW took second (87). The MVL/NUC girls took fourth (85).
The MVL/NUC boys were led by Josh Bentler, who took second in the 100 (11.46), while Elliot Hoffman took second in the 800 (2:04.61) and Jeremy Feistner took first in the 1,600 (4:57.2). Also for the MVL/NUC boys, Anton Pyan took second in the 3,200 (12:52.57), while Will Kaesermann took first in the 300 hurdles (44.93). The MVL/NUC boys 4×100 relay team of Justin Thompson, Bentler, Ben Halvorson and Kendrick Henry took first (44.66), while the boys 4×200 relay team of Thompson, Halvorson, Bentler and Henry took first (1:33.35). The MVL/NUC boys 4×800 relay team of Tyler Fischer, Griffin Deterling, Brennan Glawe and Austin Vee also took first (9:24.61), while Henry took second in the long jump (18-01) and Kaesermann took second in the triple jump (41-0).
For the GFW boys, Justin Messner took second in the 200 (23.99) and first in the 400 (53.86), while Garrett Schmidt took first in the 110 hurdles (15.97) and second in the 300 hurdles (45.02). Also for the GFW boys, Alex Johnson took second in the shot put (46-02) and first in the discus (155-09), while Dominic Krumwiede took second in the discus (141-11), Brennir Peterson took second in the high jump (5-08) and Schmidt took first in the long jump (19-03).
The MVL/NUC girls were led by Claudia Weisensel, who took first in the 100 hurdles (17.12), while her teammate Avery Freier took second (17.17). Weisensel alsok took second in the 300 hurdles (51.61), while the MVL/NUC girls 4×100 relay team of Emily Brown, Avery Hopp, Avery Freier and Tiphany Dos Santos took first (52.63). Hannah Christensen took second in the discus for MVL/NUC (89-02).
For the GFW girls, Kinley Bruns took second in the 100 (13.35) and second in the 400 (1:02.19), while Madyson Steele took second in the 3,200 (13:08.46) and Trinity Stearns took second in the high jump (4-08).

New Ulm takes first in boys, girls meet
in Sleepy Eye
SLEEPY EYE — New Ulm took first in both the boys and girls side of a Sleepy Eye track and field meet on Thursday.
The New Ulm boys scored a 136, followed by Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (114), River Valley (91), Glencoe-Silver Lake (70), Wabasso (33) and Madelia/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman (28).
The New Ulm girls scored a 156, followed by River Valley (146), GFW (65), GSL (49), Wabasso (47) and M/GHEC/ML/T (18).
James Osborne led the New Ulm boys, placing first in high jump (6-0), while Brennan Shaver placed second in the 200 (23.88) and third in the 100 (11.69). Sullivan Gusso placed second in the 400 (53.34) and George Gag placed third in the 400 (53.92). Michael Hames placed second in the 800 (2:07.68), while Francisco Cicarini Neto Lavalle placed third in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4×800 relay team of Easton Clark, Osborne, Dain Barie and Gusso placed first (8:35.40), and Cohen Carpenter placed third in shot put (42-2.5) and Ethan Lieb placed first in pole vault(10) and second in high jump (5-10). Clark placed first in long jump (19-5) and triple jump (38-8.25).
For the GFW boys, Justin Messner placed first in the 100 (11.50), 200 (23.61) and 400 (52.44), while Garrett Schmidt placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.77) and 300-meter hurdles (45.26) and second in long jump (18-7.5). Alex Johnson won shot put (45-6.5) and discus (114-6) while Dominic Krumwiede placed second in discus (130-9). Brennir Peterson placed third in high jump (5-6) and third in long jump (18-3.75).
Matthew Groebner placed first in the 800 for the River Valley boys (2:05.47), as well as the 1,600 (4:41.95). Noah Christensen placed third in the 1,600 (5:00.02), while Raul Rodriguez placed second in the 3,200 (11:13.88). Jade Stone placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.74), while the 4×400 relay team of Nolan Weicherding, Mattew Fernandez, Christensen and Groebner placed first 3:45.26). Evan Thompson placed second in shot put (43-9.5), while Wyatt Pollard placed second in pole vault (8).
For the Wabasso boys, Andrew Morin placed second in the 1,600 (4:55.11), while Tyson Lightfoot placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (46.80) and Tavyn Larson placed third in triple jump (37-1).
For the New Ulm girls, Jesalyn Skoglund placed first in the 300-meter hurdles (53.01) and high jump (4-0) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.62), while Kaelyn Eikanger placed third in the 400 (1:04.99). Megan Gauert placed second in the 1,600 (6:11.31) and third in the 800 (2:38.80). Ellie Dake placed first in shot put (32-4.5) and discus (91-10), while Jocelyn Peterson placed second in shot put (29-10). Alexandra Goff placed third in high jump (4-4), while Sophia Berger (9), Kaitlin Donnay (8) and Joleigh Engel (7) swept the top three spots in pole vault. Berger also placed first in the triple jump (30-5.5).
Hailey Hollar led the River Valley girls, placing first in the 100 (12.62), 200 (26.83) and second in the long jump (14-10.75). Marley Hewitt placed third in the 200 (27.74) and second in the 400 (1:03.95), while Marissa Pabst placed first in the 800 (2:30.71), and Olivia Milbrath won the 1,600 (6:01.54). Emma Hagen placed third in the 1,600 (6:26.40) and second in the 3,200 (14:09.69), while Leah Kucera (17.52) and Millie Lax (17.95) placed first and second in the 100-meter hurdles. The 4×100 relay team of Yessenia Fernandez, Yuridia Fernandez, Taneille Fernandez and Erika Wells placed first (55.47), as well as the 4×400 relay team of Hollar, Pabst, Lydia Dauer and Lucy Schmidt (4:20.27) and 4×800 relay team of Brynne Ibberson, Katie Thram, Aubrey Steffl and Pabst (10:30.50). Yuridia Fernandez placed third in discus (83), while Steffl (15-7.75) and Marley Hewitt (14-6.5) placed first and third in long jump. Kucera placed second in triple jump (30-5).
For the GFW girls Kinley Bruns placed first in the 400 (1:02.40) and third in the 100 (13.20) and Madyson Steele placed first in the 3,200 (12:40.72). Keyden Buboltz placed third in the 300-meter hurdles (57.29) and Trinity Stearns placed second in high jump (4-8). Kelby Bruns placed third in triple jump (29-0.5).
Katelyn Zeug led the Wabasso girls, placing second in the 100 (13.14).
