Three to be inducted into New Ulm Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame

NEW ULM — Three bowlers will be inducted into the New Ulm Bowling Hall of Fame on Friday evening, April 12 at the Kegel Klub – Concordia Lanes, New Ulm.

The 2024 inductee for the New Ulm Women’s Bowling Association is Laurie Groebner. The Men’s Bowling Association is bestowing this year’s Hall of Fame honors to Don Olson and Keith Rolloff.

Groebner has been involved in bowling for over 35 years. She has a high game of 246, high series of 575 and high average of 159. Groebner was a board member of the New Ulm WIBC and assisted with the hosting of the 2000 Women’s State Tournament held in New Ulm. Groebner served as league secretary and team captain for the Striking Couples league and also team captain in the Ladies Kegel league. She has also participated in several tournaments at the state and local level.

Olson has bowled in New Ulm for 40 years. He holds a career high average of 187, high game of 279 with his high series being 717. He was team captain in the Sioux league and then joined the All Star league in 1971 where he also served as team captain. Don bowled in many state tournaments and earned a state championship in team event. He also bowled in the National ABC tournament in 1998, placing with his doubles partner.

Rolloff has been a part of the New Ulm bowling community for over 50 years. His high career average was 203. He has bowled in several leagues in New Ulm, including Mixed Up Couples, Golfers & Businessmen, All Star and Home. He is still currently bowling with Home, Golfers & Businessmen and All Star either as a regular or a substitute. He has bowled many tournaments on the national, state and local level. His bowling involvement also includes being a league team captain and officer over the years. He currently serves as a board member of the New Ulm Area USBC and Association Tournament Committee.
