New Ulm finishes 8th
at Shoreland
ST. PETER — The New Ulm boys golf team took eighth at a St. Peter Boys Golf Invitational at Shoreland Country Club on Tuesday, finishing with a 354.
St. Peter won the meet with a 291, while Bloomington Jefferson shot a 314 for second and Jackson County Central shot a 340 for third. Rounding out the scores were Redwood Valley (344), Waseca (348), Blue Earth Area (349), St. Peter JV (349), New Ulm (354) and Fairmont (355).
St. Peter’s Ethan Moreau was the medalist with an 18-hole score of 70.
New Ulm was led by Brayden Wendinger, who shot an 84 to take 16th, while Will Fossen carded an 89 to tie for 29th. Brecken Neuman shot a 90 to tie for 31st also for New Ulm, while Gavin Epper, Mason Buegler and Will Weidman each shot a 91 to tie for 34th.

LAKE CRYSTAL — Avery Voges and the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Knights shut out Nicollet in six innings of a Valley Conference softball game on Tuesday.
The game ended in six innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Voges had 16 strikeouts to go with a one-hitter. Julia Montgomery and Sydney Kramer led the Knights with two hits apiece.
Nicollet got a hit from Morgan Black. Leah Bode pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Raiders in the loss, allowing seven hits and nine walks for five earned runs while striking out five.
LCWM (9-0, 5-0) is scheduled to play Thursday at St. Clair, while Nicollet (5-9, 2-4) will host St. Clair/Loyola on Friday.
