New Ulm Gold 9, Mankato National 2

MANKATO — New Ulm Legion Gold downed Mankato National 9-2 on Thursday night in a legion baseball game.

Jaden Drill led Gold at the plate, going 4 for 5 with an RBI and a double, while Kaden Larson was 3 for 3 with four RBIs. Josh Giefer was 2 for 4, while Ethan Thompson was 2 for 5 with an RBI, Landon Barstad had a double and Lucas Seuss had a hit and two RBIs.

Blaine Olson got the complete game win, allowing four hits and two walks for two unearned runs. He struck out six.

Sleepy Eye 8,

Springfield 4

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye Post 7 topped Springfield 8-4 on Thursday in a legion baseball game.

Arian Saenz led Post 7 at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double, while Jon Petermann and Kaleb Wait each doubled and drove in a run.

Brandon Schmitz got the win in relief of Saenz, pitching three innings and allowing three hits while fanning three.

Springfield was led by Ashtin Johnson, who went 2 for 2 with an RBI, while Luke Boyle was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a double. MaCoy Krick also had a triple for Springfield.

Sam Rummel took the loss in 5 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and six walks for seven earned runs while striking out two.

VFW Silver 7,

St. Peter Jr. Legion 1

ST. PETER — Behind Candon Briggs’ complete-game two-hitter, New Ulm VFW Silver downed St. Peter Jr. Legion on Thursday in a VFW baseball game.

Briggs allowed one unearned run and no walks in the win while striking out four.

Ayden Gostonczik was 2 for 3 with three RBIs to lead Silver at the plate, while Cohen Domeier was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Elijah Rieser had two hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
