NEW ULM — When Sam Knowles scored on a free throw four minutes into the New Ulm Cathedral-Cleveland nonconference boys’ basketball game Tuesday night, it gave the Greyhounds an 11-0 lead.
Those 11 points scored by Cathedral in the first four minutes were more than the Clippers scored in the first half.
The Greyhounds built first half leads of 15-0 and 39-6 and held a commanding 48-10 lead at halftime as they went on to steamroll Cleveland 69-32.
Knowles led the Greyhounds (2-6) with 22 points, with Jevan Wilfahrt adding 12.
Lucas Walechka led the Clippers (0-8) with 16 points.
Cathedral expanded on their 48-10 halftime lead by scoring the first 9 points of the second half, 3 of them coming on a Jevan Wilfahrt 3 for a 59-10 lead early in the second half.
After Knowles recorded his 22nd point for that 49-point lead, Cathedral pulled all of his starters.
The Greyhounds are off until Jan. 3 when they travel to Wabasso.
