NEW ULM — Nick Marotzke scored four first-half touchdowns as Wabasso built a 41-0 halftime lead as the Rabbits rolled to a 48-6 win over Minnesota Valley Lutheran Thursday night in a Southwest District game.

Marotzke scored on runs of 14, 9, 3 and 19 yards.

The Chargers’ lone touchdown came on when quarterback Luke Thompson found wide receive Nick Bleick from 19 yards out.

Wabasso (2-0) scored on its first two possessions on Marotzke runs before Wyatt Soupir intercepted a Thompson pass setting the stage for a 3-yard Marotzke scamper and a 21-0 lead.

Marotzke revisited the end zone early in the second quarter for a 28-0 lead before Hunter Taylor added two touchdowns for a 41-0 lead at the break.

The Chargers (0-2) scored their lone touchdown of the game after Layton Brau intercepted a Carter Benz pass deep in Rabbits’ territory.

Four plays after the turnover, Thompson connected with Bleick for the score with two minutes to go in the third quarter.

Gabe Martin then closed out the scoring for Wabasso on an 8-yard run late in the final quarter.
